Why 1:0 is a trap as well as an answer

Here is the tension. 1:0 is genuinely the most likely single scoreline in a lot of Serie A fixtures, and it is also one of the most popular predictions in any prediction game.

Being right with everyone else gains you nothing on the table. A rarity bonus exists precisely for this: a correct score nobody else called pays extra, and a correct 1:0 that thirty other people also wrote pays the base. So in Italy, the question is not only what will happen but whether your read is genuinely yours.

Bankers in tight matches

Serie A is good banker territory, for a mechanical reason. A banker survives on the outcome plus at least one team's exact goal count, and in a league full of clean sheets, the zero is the easiest number in football to call correctly.

A well-organised home side against a struggling away side gives you two chances at that: their goals, or the visitors' nil. That is a better banker than a high scoring fixture where both numbers are guesses.
